Theresa Ford
Theresa is a self-taught artist from Ashland, Nebraska whose creative voice has been shaped by travel, teaching, and a lifelong passion for art. Having lived abroad in places such as Okinawa, Japan, she returned home with a broadened perspective and began teaching art to special-needs teens. That experience reignited her love of creating and sparked a deeper ambition to explore art on a more expressive and immersive level.

Acrylic painting is at the heart of Theresa’s current work. Her paintings are a tactile exploration of movement, emotion, and surface, layered so richly that they invite viewers to look closer and feel the energy within the texture. Through heavy body paint and deliberate mark-making, she creates works that are as physical as they are visual, encouraging an intimate, sensory connection with the viewer.

In addition to painting, Theresa works in copper and colored pencil. Her hand-forged copper jewelry is created using traditional metalsmithing techniques, with each piece bearing the subtle variations and textures left by the hammer marks that speak to time, intention, and craftsmanship. Her colored pencil drawings, in contrast, are rooted in realism, capturing reflections and surfaces with photographic precision.

Across all mediums, Theresa’s work reflects a balance between expressive freedom and technical skill, with acrylic painting serving as her primary vehicle for exploration and artistic voice.
